Review of Current Long Term Care (LTC) Solutions
Speaker: Ed Stone, LTCP, Crump Life insurance Services
Additional Information: Iwan Santoso, IEEE PCJS PACE co-chair
The phrase “long-term care" commonly refers to the help that people with chronic illnesses, disabilities or other conditions need on a daily basis over an extended period of time. Statistically, someone turning age 65 has almost a 70% chance of needing some type of supports in their remaining years (longtermcare.gov). To help cover potential long-term care expenses (also to protect our family assets/savings), most people choose to get long-term care insurance.
Since we can't predict what our future care needs will be, the traditional Long Term Care (LTC) insurance may not be the most effective solution financially. With the additions of new LTC products in the last few years, such as Annuity and Life Insurance based LTCs, it is important to understand all the available long-term care solutions to better serve our individual needs. Ed Stone will discuss briefly the basics of LTC, and explain the current available long-term care products, including their advantages and drawbacks.
