Webinar on higher study "A journey from Leading University to University of California, Merced” was held over online platform ZOOM Meeting on 28th August, 2020 at 7:30pm (Bangladesh time).

The Keynote Speaker of this webinar was Asoke Datta, Ph.D. student, Teaching Assistant, Research Assistant (2018 to present). He is pursuing his Ph.D. at Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in the University of California, Merced. He is an alumnus of CSE, Leading University.

That Webinar was divided into different segments, the keynote speakers gave talks and shared stories of his Journey from HSC, Undergrad life at Leading University, job at Accenture through to Ph.D. at the University of California, Merced

He shared how he took preparation for GRE and IELTS in a very short period of time and yet managed to get away with a result that was enough to fetch him a FULL FUNDED SCHOLARSHIP at the University of California. He shared all his experiences and obstacles he faced during this journey. He shared how he approached the professors and how many applications he had to make to get replies from Professors.

In every 15 minutes the Keynote Speaker took live questions from participants and answered all of their queries. He also answered queries collected during registration process.

Students who participated were drawn into his story and they asked many questions out of curiosity.

Among guests was also present Md Abdur Rahman Emad, Founding Chair, IEEE Leading University Student Branch who shared his thoughts regarding some technical issues and the importance of learning programming languages.

All the guests greeted the Keynote Speaker and thanked him for sharing his thoughts and as an alumnus he inspired his fellow juniors.

All the guests also commended the effort of IEEE Leading University Student Branch for bringing a change in the culture of extra-curricular activities of Leading University arranging many technical flagship events under IEEE Bangladesh Section and IEEE Region 10.

At the end Md. Ashraful Islam, Counselor, IEEE Leading University Student Branch and the host of the event, delivered his conclusive speech thanking Keynote Speaker and all the esteemed guests for joining this IEEE Leading University Student Branch event. He drew everyone’s attention by addressing many key outputs of the webinar.

The Guest Speaker Mr. ASOKE DATTA is pursuing his Ph.D. in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University Of California, Merced. He is also working as the Research Assistant & Teaching Assistant at the same department from 2018 till present.

Mr. ASOKE DATTA, previously worked at the world renowned multinational software service company Accenture,Dhaka from 2014 till 2017.

Mr. ASOKE DATTA is an alumnus of Leading University from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
