On MIMO Antennas: Design, Analysis and Extension to Channel Modelling

Biography:

Dr. Debdeep Sarkar (SIEEE'13-MIEEE'18)  obtained his B.E. in ETCE from Jadavpur University in 2011, and his M.Tech. and Ph.D. in EE from IIT Kanpur, in 2013 and 2018 respectively. He has worked as Visiting Researcher and Post-doctoral fellow in RMC Canada, respectively during May 2017-Aug 2017 and Nov 2018-Feb 2020. After that, he has briefly served as Assistant Professor in Dept of EE, IIT Ropar, from March-July 2020. Dr. Sarkar is currently joining as an Assistant Professor in Dept of ECE, IISc Bangalore.

His current research interests include design of arrays/MIMO antennas for 5G and beyond, channel modelling for massive MIMO systems and wireless body area networks (WBAN), as well as near field theory and fundamental aspects of EM energy.

Dr. Sarkar has authored/co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed journal papers and more than 50 international/national conference papers so far. He serves as a Regular Reviewer in journals such as the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation (TAP), IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters (AWPL), IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine (APM) and IEEE Access. He is also serving as Associate Editor in IEEE Access since December 2019.

Dr. Sarkar is the recipient of the URSI Young Scientist Award (YSA) twice, respectively in the URSI General Assembly (GASS), 2020 and URSI Asia-Pacific Radio Science Conference (AP-RASC), 2019. He has also received best paper awards and travel grants in several conferences of international repute.
