PLEASE ATTEND THE VIRTUAL DEBUT OF SPOKANE'S NEWEST UNIVERSITY DISTRICT BUILDING

IEEE Spokane is pleased to participate in the continuation of an ongoing collaborative effort that is putting Spokane’s University District on the world map for sustainable building development.   IEEE’s Spokane Smart Cities Series is launching its 2020 year of activity by joining a major virtual opening event welcoming the engineering community, including regional engineering students, to the new Catalyst Building.

You are invited to register soon for virtual debut of this long awaited project in the Spokane University District.  Catalyst is opening Thursday, Sept 17 at 1 pm, as the home of the newly created (July 2020) Eastern Washington University Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, plus several other EWU programs and building tenants.

The five-story Catalyst building, which opens 9/17 as one of the world’s largest zero energy buildings, is already noted for its cutting edge sustainable construction, based on innovative cross laminated timber (CLT).  The Catalyst campus will also host the neighboring central energy plant, which will feature advanced energy management capabilities for nearby buildings, including carefully optimized industrial control systems of considerable engineering interest.
