A session on the evolution of Integrated Circuits & its applications, Printed Circuit Boards and the advantages was conducted by Ms V Krishna Sree, Associate Professor, Department of ECE, VNRVJIET.

Ms Krisha Sree started with explaining the basic definition of an Integrated Circuit (IC) and slowly moved on to the complex realities in an understandable manner. She spoke about the applications of IC in Biomedical, Aerospace, Home Appliances, Communications field by giving relevant examples.

The speaker explained the importance of breadboards, and also why minimising the size of transistors was mandatory.

Ms. Krishna Sree also spoke about Moore's law and its shortcomings in today's generation followed by a clear explanation of IC chip size and circuit complexity.

The classification of ICs was done, MSI, LSI, SSI, VLSI and ULSI were briefly explained and later on, the fabrication of the IC was explained with all the steps involved in detail.

Different types of packaging techniques was also explained including DIP, Flat pack and Transistor package.
