In the worksforce only about 13% of engineers are women. Among them, women receiving degrees in "electrical and computer engineering" continues to remain low. Over 30% of women switch out of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) degree programs in college.
The 'Women in ECE panel discussion' is an opportunity to know more about the need for diversity, career choice, challenges, inspirations, experience, and work-life balance by engaging in meaningful discussions with women engineers/academicians from University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University. Our panelists are:
Dr. Azime Can-Cimino, Assistant Professor, University of Pittsburgh; Research areas: Signal Processing, Optimization
Dr. Mai AbdelHakim, Assistant Professor, University of Pittsburgh; Research areas: Internet of Things, Cyber-Physical Systems, Stochastic sytem modelling and analysis, wireless communications and network design, Machine learning
Dr. Peipei Zhou, Assistant Professor, University of Pittsburgh; Research areas: Computer Architecture, HW/SW Co-optimization, Parallel and Distributed computing, Computational genomics, AI Chip and FPGA
Dr. Yuejie Chi, Associate Professor, Carnegie Mellon University; Research areas: Signal processing, Machine learning, Radar, Optimization, Sensor and sensing
