Arc Flash Safety - A Review and Application of IEEE standard 1584
In all electrical installations, arc flash hazards are present. Arc flash hazards can present a serious risk to workers and equipment if not managed thorugh engineering controls. In this seminar, a review and application of the IEEE standard 1584 for determining incident energy levels, power system coordination and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements will be presented.
Biography:
Xavier St-Onge is a graduate from the University of New Brunswick with both Bachelors and Master's degrees in electrical engineering. He currently works as an electrical designer for Stantec Consulting Ltd, where he performs power system analysis, including arc flash hazard analysis, for a veriety of industries and utilities. Xavier has been a member of IEEE since 2016 and has been the chair of the IEEE NB section for just over a year. Xavier holds publications at the IEEE Industry Applications Society and IEEE Industrial Electronics Society.
