Professional Engineering Ethics and Conduct
This course presents the laws and rules of ethics and professional responsibility governing the practice of engineering in the state of Wisconsin. This PDH course is applicable to Professional Engineers licensed in the state of Wisconsin and who are required to demonstrate continuing professional competency in engineering ethics as a condition of their renewal.
Learning Objectives:
• NSPE Code of Ethics overview
– Fundamental Canons
– Rules of practice – based on the 5 fundamental Canons
– Professional Obligations - students will review the 9 Professional Obligations and their subparts
– Supreme court decision
• Case Studies (4-5) with Q&A and discussion
• Review of the Wisconsin State statute

Don Wengerter
Professional Engineering Ethics and Conduct
Biography: Don Wengerter (PE WI, MI, IL) is a senior substation engineer with 32 years of experience in the utility industry. His experience includes power plant operations and start-up, Commissioning tests for power plant equipment and transmission/distribution system equipment and substation design. Some projects he has worked on include start-up of Byron Nuclear Station, revenue metering additions for sale of ComEd’s fossil stations, design of the Tollway 345-138 substation for ComEd, Grand Ridge Wind Park Collector Substation, Gardner Park Substation near Wausau, and various hydro plant upgrades. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Marquette University in 1982. He is also a member of several working groups for the IEEE Substations Committee.
