Biography:

Major General Vikram Dev Dogra, AVSM was commissioned into the Poona Horse (Indian Army) in 1981. He is the recipient of the Sword of Honour for being the best all round passing out cadet and a Gold Medallist for passing out first in the order of merit.

He had commanded The Poona Horse, 180 Armoured Brigade on the Western front and an infantry division part of a strike corps. He had served in various distinguished staff and instructional assignments and gained combat experience in Jammu and Kashmir as well as part of United nations peace keeping forces in Angola, Africa.

The General is a thorough professional, committed sportsman and an adventure enthusiast. He had participated in various cycling events and cycled from Leh to Chandigarh over 5 of the highest mountain passes ranging from 13400 to 17600 ft as well as in the North East of India from Sela pass at 14000 ft to Bumla la at 15400 ft on the Chinese border.

A motivational and TEDx speaker. In 2018 he had completed successfully Ironman Austria at the age of 58 in 14 hours and 21 minutes to become the first Serving Indian Army officer and the only general in the world to execute the timelines in an impeccable way ahead of schedule. In July 2019 he once again took on the ironman competition at Germany and bettered his own time by 41 mins completing the gruelling race in 13 hours and 40 mins.

He was awarded Ati Vashisht Seva Medal (AVSM) on 19 March 2019 by the President of India to recognize "distinguished service of an exceptional order".
