The past decade has witnessed the surge of interest in daily activity monitoring. Human-centered sensing attempts to have a comprehensive assessment of people’s living habits and health condition. Several applications could benefit from the advanced human sensing systems including elder caring in smart hospitals and homes. In this talk, I will focus on necessity of human-centered sensing and more specifically on the use of remote sensing in health care to monitor the elderly’s living alone or in nursing houses for fall incident detection.

Dr. Hamidreza Sadreazami Dr. Hamidreza Sadreazami

Biography:

Hamidreza Sadreazami received the B.Sc. degree from Khaje Nasir Toosi University, Tehran, Iran, M.Sc. degree from Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, Iran, and PhD degree from Concordia University, Montreal, all in Electrical Engineering. He was nominated for 2017 CAGS/UMI Distinguished Dissertation Award at Concordia University and 2017 Prix d'excellence de l'association des doyens des etudes suprieures au Québec (ADESAQ). He was a Postdoctoral Fellow with Signal and Information Processing Lab at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Concordia University (June 2016-Oct 2017). He was a part-time faculty member at Concordia University in 2017. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow with Biomedical Signal Processing Lab at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Ottawa (Nov 2017-Dec 2018). Since 2019, he has been a Postdoctoral Fellow with Biosignals and Systems Analysis Lab at Bioengineering Department, McGill University. His research interest includes biomedical signal processing, image processing, machine learning, data analytics and statistical modeling. He has authored more than 50 journal articles and conference papers. He was the chair of the IEEE Montreal Industry Relations Committee (Aug 2018 to Dec 2020), where he was involved in organizing several successful Research Boost events. IEEE Montreal Section recognized him as an outstanding volunteer in 2019. He is currently the chair of the IEEE Montreal Section.
