We are witnessing rapid advancement in disruptive technology such as IoT, 5G, AI, security, Blockchain, and others that will enable building new smart solutions in multiple vertical markets for smart society.

IoT has multiple billions of sensors and devices and promised to grow to 50 billion in the coming years, 5G has started in 2020 offering high performance, low latency, and richness of feature. In contrast to previous cellular generations, 5G is supporting multiple use cases in several markets such as healthcare, mobility, energy, public safety, smart homes/buildings, and smart cities.

As the volume of data continues to grow exponentially, new AI/ML/DL tools, algorithms are being developed and deployed to make the data actionable and generate insightful information for a better decision.

These advancements and progress usher new opportunities in the technical research areas and innovative approaches aimed to advance the adoption of Technology in improving business processes, quality of life, and sustainability.

The talk will highlight examples of both technology and applications with the hope of inspiring students of the greater future lying ahead.
