A year into the pandemic caused by deadly virus roaming through our planet and other events compiling to an incredible year, the world is looking forward into the future. Many lives were lost, many businesses will never open their doors, many families broken apart by stress and anxiety, many workers left without an income and many loved ones unable to see each other. Economy shaken and the entire industries severely affected. However, despite that some new niches and incredible opportunities were formed. This presentation will provide an overview of 2020 effect on the economy and energy sector in particular and will discuss some unexpected outcomes that the events of the year had yielded.

Polina Dondale Polina Dondale of Acadia University

Biography:

Polina had over a decade long fascinating career in energy sector with the company called Schlumberger, world’s leading oilfield service provider, where she held multiple technical and operational positions. She started in the energy sector as a young engineer fresh from university and progressed to worldwide leading technical positions. She led the development of Invizion Well Integrity Service for Schlumberger, which comprised of two parts: collaboration of experts from multiple service lines to the benefit of generating the best possible solution and proprietary software-based product that offered a unique outlook into the operations. This Product was aimed to understand the existing issues and improve the well integrity probability. Before that she specialized in Deepwater offshore and High Pressure high temperature well construction operations. She was one of leading technical experts for Schlumberger Well Construction Segment and provided technical expertise and oversite for world-wide Deepwater offshore cementing operations.

Polina has a Masters Degree with Honors in Mechanical Engineering from Gubkin State Oil and Gas University in Moscow, Russia; Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering with Honors from Ufa State Oil and Gas University in Ufa, Russia. She is also licensed Professional Engineer in Petroleum by TBPE, TX, US.
