The webinar started at 10:30 pm, with our hosts introducing the speakers: Awalin Sapon and Samia Shafique. Awalin Sapon is a data science and visualization specialist; currently she is working on building an analytics interface for security analysts. She completed her undergraduate in CSE from BUET in 2006 and later earned her Masters' in Computer Science with a focus on machine learning and dataviz from the University of Maryland, College Park. In her current role, she closely collaborates with cyber security analysts developing and designing a one-stop web interface to detect and tackle cyber attacks. She has been working in the industry for quite some time now and has worked for companies such as FireEye,inc (senior software engineer), Microstrategy (HCI research scientist) and has been a speaker at reputed conferences like Grace hopper conference, Data intelligence conference.

Samia Shafique is currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at the University of California Irvine (UCI). She completed her undergraduate in CSE from BUET in 2016. She also served as a lecturer at the Department of CSE at United International University (UIU). She co-founded the club Bangladeshi Women in Computer Science and Engineering(BWCSE). Consequently, she was awarded the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship Asia Pacific 2015 and the Outstanding Performance in a Leadership Role 2016.
