Engineers' s Role In Energy Conservation, Energy Efficiency, Use of Renewable Energy , Environment ,Climate Change

The departments of Electrical Engineering and Electronic & Communication Engineering,  Faculty of Engineering and Computing Sciences, Teerthanker Mahaveer University Moradabad has organized an online Webinar in association with Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, GOI, New Delhi, on “Engineers' s Role In Energy Conservation, Energy Efficiency, Use of Renewable Energy , Environment ,Climate Change”, scheduled to be conducted on 17th March, 2021 from 10:30 AM to 12.30 PM. The second session was coordinated by Dr Garima Goswami, HoD, EE and Mrs. Sakshi Singh, COD, ECE and eminent speaker Shri K.K. Mahajan, Charted Engineer, PCRA, Gov of India have called a wonderful session on energy conservation. More than 125 participants joined the session and Enlighted with the vision of PCRA.

In welcome speech Dr Pankaj Kumar Goswami elaborated that the theme of webinar. He addressed that for a very long period of time we have been watching the statutory warnings of fuel conservation from PCRA on various communication media like television, radio or newspapers. He said that we are highly fortunate to have an eminent personality among us to throw some light on energy conservation and demonstrated the need of conservation of energy. He emphasized on the role of engineers for energy efficiency and energy conservation.

In address note Prof. R.K. Dwivedi, Principal, FoE&CS discussed in detail about the main challenges and need of energy conservation. He said that now-a-days the fear of running out of all our energy resources is the new buzz which is going around.  The main reason for this energy crisis is over consumption of energy resources. If this problem is overlooked now then our future generations will be deprived of the basic amenity like electricity. More and more commercial organizations as well as residential buildings are coming forward and using these occupancy sensors and light sensors to reduce their electrical bills which as an end result is helping in conserving energy.

In keynote address of Shri K.K. Mahajan, Charted Engineer, PCRA, Gov of India, he addressed the common issues related with the energy conservation. He said that over the years, PCRA has developed a number of films, TV spots and radio jingles in various languages for promoting oil conservation. PCRA also publishes quarterly a journal and a newsletter. Active Conservation Techniques (ACT), is a journal containing articles on technology by energy experts. It also brings out successful case studies leading to conservation of energy. The conservation news is an in-house newsletter highlighting the major activities carried out by PCRA in the core sectors. To formulate strategies and promote measures for accelerating conservation of petroleum products leading to environment protection, energy security and sustainable development. He explained about the PCRA objectives to create awareness among masses about the importance, benefits and methods of conserving petroleum products & clean environment by enhancing information and capacity building. To promote research, development and deployment efforts aimed at petroleum conservation & environment protection, support & facilitate efforts for adoption and dissemination of fuel-efficient technologies and substitution of petroleum products with alternate fuels and renewable. To establish synergistic institutional linkages at the national & international levels in the areas of petroleum conservation & environment protection. To provide training and technical advisory services, designed to achieve economy & efficiency in use of petroleum products for cleaner environment. To function as a Think Tank to the Govt. of India for proposing policies and strategies on petroleum conservation and environment protection aimed at reducing excessive dependence on oil.

The session was highly admired by the online and offline participants including principals, faculty members and students. The session was ended with vote of thanks of session coordinator Mrs. Sakshi Singh, COD, ECE. The session was highly appreciated for valuable information content and admired for the joint efforts of student & Faculty members of Electrical and Electronics & Communication Departments. Faculty members Mr. Raghvendra Singh, Mr. Umesh Kumar, Mr. Rahul Vishnoi and B.Tech Students Tripti and Rahul were greeted for their true heart efforts.
