Entrepreneurship and Innovation as Career Opportunity
An online workshop was organized by Faculty of Engineering on 02/12/2020 under the aegis of Institution Innovation Council (An initiative of MHRD’s Innovation cell, Govt. of India). Dr Vaishali Dhingra, Joint Registrar, Research & Development, TMU was the distinguished speaker of the session. Faculty and students of B.Sc, M.Sc and B.Tech from various departments participated in the event online through zoom meeting. Ms. Neha Anand welcomed all the participants. Prof (Dr) R K Dwivedi, Principal FOE & CS highlighted the importance of workshop and said that no doubt there are immense opportunities of entrepreneurship in new India. He further stated that entrepreneurship is the need of the hour, and innovation is the key to successes in this competitive world. Ms Neha introduced the guest speaker to the audience.
The talk delivered by Dr. Vaishali Dhingra emphasized upon “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and what is instore for young students. She emphasized that Entrepreneurship is not just about taking risk but it’s all about taking calculative risk which can defeat the uncertainty looming large upon any new start-up. In this context various types of uncertainty and how to deal with them were discussed. It was rightly pointed out that we all have a tendency to look at the characteristics of famous entrepreneurs. But ideally, we must look into the traits which made them entrepreneurs and learn from them. Entrepreneurs like Richard Branson, Mansukhbhai Prajapati and their business models were discussed.
Various schemes of Government of India for promoting entrepreneurship in the country were discussed. Government has been working on schemes like Atal Incubation Centre, MUDRA, NABARD etc. which were shared during the talk with the students. The importance of the concept of “Minimum Viable Project” was discussed in case of newly launched start-ups.

Biography:
An academician since past 22 years and Joint Registrar (R & D), in Teerthanker Mahaveer University, she has significantly contributed in the field of work life balance and QWL with papers crossing a mark of 1200 reads on Research Gate. Published papers in prestigious Scopus, Web of Science and ABDC listed journals including the journals published by IIM Kolkata and XLRI Jamshedpur. She is the Chief Editor of the journal Viewpoint since 2010.
Deliver talk to IPS officers, government officials of various departments like Moradabad Development Authority, Public Works Dept etc. at the behest of Commissioner Moradabad Division, to make them more sensitive towards the needs of general public. Conducted motivation and confidence building workshops at the behest of Joint Director of Industries for manufacturers and exporters associated with brass and textile handicrafts. Conduct workshops for skilled workers working in the premises of Handicraft exporters, entrepreneurs, manufacturers and exporters organized by Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) under the aegis of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Chaired sessions and delivered key note address in a number of conferences including those hosted by the University of Delhi and IIT Delhi. She initiated Entrepreneurship Cell in Teerthanker Mahaveer University in the year 2011 and motivated students to pursue it.
