Virtual Poster Competition at the University of Connecticut

The newly formed ‘IEEE Grad’ group at UCONN put on a poster competition to promote membership. Contestants recorded themselves giving a 3-minute presentation of their academic research and uploaded it to Youtube. During the WebEx event on March 28^th the presentations were viewed, questions were asked by the audience to the presenter, and scoring was done by 3 volunteer judges.

The Young Professionals Affinity Group sponsored the event with $200 of award funding, and assisted with some of the logistics of the event. Nick Felker a YP from NYC volunteered to judge the posters. The other judges were faculty at the University of Connecticut. Most of the work was done by the IEEE Grad founding members Roman Mays and Arshiah Mirza.
