IEEE IAS Richmond Presents: Missiles then Micro Brews
Come Launch a Rocket with the Industrial Applications Society (IAS) Richmond Chapter! Test your skills against Richmond's best and brightest!
Join IEEE IAS Richmond and enjoy some outdoor fun with physics, socializing with other professionals in the area, and launching some rockets! As the organization's first event of 2021, we are excited to launch into 2021 with a booming event!
All IEEE members (including students, young professionals, senior members, and their families) and non-IEEE members who are interested in learning more about the organization are welcome to join us. Attendees can construct their own rocket, with the goal to maximize the rocket's launch height. Using basic STEM principles and personal experience, participants will have at least two opportunities to reach a maximum altitude.
For $20.00, participants will receive a rocket launch kit in addition to refreshments. For $5.00, attendees can enjoy watching launches with refreshments. IEEE is providing hot dogs, hamburgers, and a vegetarian option. Beverages will include an assortment of sodas and water. A limited number of tables, chairs, and tailgate tents will be set up throughout the area for use, but please feel free to bring your own chairs, blankets, etc.
We look forward to seeing you there! Please register before May 28th so we can get an accurate count of rockets and refreshments required. The number of rocket kits is limited – please reserve early to ensure your spot.
A post-event social gathering will be held at the Fine Creek Brewery (2425 Robert E Lee Rd, Powhatan, VA 23139) starting at 5:30 PM. IEEE has reserved two large outdoor tables.

All necessary safety guidelines will be followed to ensure each participant's safety throughout the entire event. Model rockets will be launched outdoors in a cleared area, free of tall trees, power lines, buildings, and dry brush and grass. In addition, with the ongoing pandemic, our team is dedicated to providing a healthy environment for all participants.
