PES DAY 2021: Panel Discussion

Every year on April 22, on the occasion of Earth day the Power and Energy Society MMMUT under IEEE celebrates IEEE Pes day. And on the 4th edition of IEEE Pes day, the theme was "Clean Energy Revolution". To commemorate the day IEEE SB MMMUT had a virtual event from 3:30 pm. The event was coordinated under the guidance of hon'ble vice chancellor of MMMUT, Prof JP Pandey and Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, secretary IEEE UP section. There were several faculty as well as student speakers who spoke about different aspects of clean energy revolution and how climate change is one the biggest problem that humanity has faced. Apart from the speakers there were approximately 130+ students who had joined the event. Starting the event were Ankita Yadav and Yash Kumar, the anchors of the event who gave a brief history of Pes day and clean energy revolution. After that the hon'ble vice chancellor spoke about how clean energy initiatives are taken inside MMMUT campus, be it solar panels to sustainable buildings and promoting research in this field. He also pointed out that being the society of engineers it's important to play one's role of technological advancements in clean energy. Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari spoke on clean and renewable energy resources. And continuing in the event, Prof AK Pandey, HOD, Electrical engineering department spoke on the importance and sustainability of electric car. Prof KG upadhyay, faculty Electrical engineering department, articulated on renewable electricity and microgrid. Prof. VK giri and Prof. Govind Pandey also talked regarding clean energy and its future necessity. The panel disscussion takes place between Respectable professors and discussed on the roles and future of microgrid.Also, Two student volunteer speakers, Swapnil Gupta, final year IEEE MEMBER and Shivam Singh, third year ECE gave a speech on the theme. At the end of the panel discussion Prof. Brijesh Kumar, faculty advisor, IEEE SB MMMUT gave a vote of thanks to everyone present in the event. A post webinar quiz and feedback was taken through Google forms which witnessed a participation of 150+ students. The quiz tested the awareness of the students regarding the technological advancements in the field of clean energy. All the participants will get a certificate of PES day.
