Effective communication is vital for any individual be it personal or professional life. There is no area of life where the aforesaid is not needed. Effective communication skills not only support to share ideas with others but they also foster good relationships. Be it is verbal or nonverbal communication, both own equal importance. Consequently, keeping in mind the relevance of communication skills in student’s life, Faculty of Engineering & Computing Sciences organized a National Webinar on Role of Communication Skills in Academics & Professional Success. Prof.Manoj Kumar, Dean Faculty of Management Studies,Maharashi Dayanand University,Ajmer,Rajasthan graced the webinar as keynote speaker. Prof.Manoj owns the teaching experience of 34 years. He has his doctorate degree from Kurushetra University. He has the credit of completing his training from IMS Ahmedabad. Prof.Kumar elaborated on the importance of Communication skills on both academic and professional ground. For the success of a student’s future career, communication skills are indispensable and of high demand. There is a huge demand for communication skills in today’s competitive world of globalization and digitalization and it is considered as the most sought-after quality of an educated person. At all levels of education, students must be able to communicate effectively and confidently. Without well-developed communication skills, children run the risk of falling behind their peers or becoming emotionally overwhelmed or withdrawn at school. Academic success depends on solid communication skills, beginning with clear oral communication. Students are often called upon in class to answer questions. These questions may range from those with simple factual answers to questions that involve putting thoughts together and making arguments. Answers to questions need to be communicated effectively so teachers can assess a student’s knowledge. Students with oral challenges may also become embarrassed if they are unable to communicate on par with their peers. Communication is a most important skill. Communication skills are not only needed in daily personal life, but also required in the profession, workplace and in business. You can’t be successful without great communication skills in professional life or in business. Prof. Kumar gave many real life examples to illustrate his points. He gave valuable tips to be effective communicator. He explained how an individual can be successful in life.
Towards the closure of the webinar, participants asked questions to the keynote speaker. Prof. Kumar handled the questions very effectively and gave satisfactory answers.
The webinar was highly appreciated by all. Anchoring was done by Ms.Neha Anand,convener of the webinar and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr.Gulista Khan, technical coordinator.
