Smart India Hackathon is world’s largest innovation platform that provides platform to students of higher educational institutes situated pan India for showing their innovation skills and solving the problems faced by society in general. SIH 2020 was the fourth edition of Smart India Hackathon whose earlier editions proved to be extremely successful in promoting innovation, out-of-the-box thinking in young minds especially engineering students from across India. In SIH 2020, the students would have the opportunity to work on challenges faced within various Ministries, Departments, Industries, PSUs and NGOs to create world class solutions for some of the top organizations including industries in the world, thus helping the Private sector hire the best minds from across the nation.
Three teams of FOICS were selected in the grand finale of "Smart India Hackathon 2020 - Software Edition" held from August 01 to August 03, 2020. This grand finale was inaugurated on 01 August 2020 by Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Minister of Human Resource Development and Shri Sanjay Dhotre, Minister of State. After this, around 220 teams selected for the Smart India Hackathon 2020 from all over the country worked on the given problem statement. Each day the jury members of the Smart India Hackathon 2020 assessed the work done by these teams twice a day in the morning and evening. The problem statements were given by various ministries of the central and state governments, public sector units, non-government institutions and corporate houses, which were worked by students studying in institutes of technology across India. In the evening of August 01, 2020, at 04:30 PM, Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the students attending the Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2020. He called upon these talented students to make India self-reliant and said that they can place India among the top 10 countries in the world in the field of innovation and technology.
The Smart India Hackathon is being organized annually by AICTE and MHRD for the last 4 years. The Smart India Hackathon 2020 was edited in three stages. In which about five lakh students from all over the country participated in more than 65 nodal centers.
In the first phase, all the AICTE and MIC-IIC approved institutes of the country were organized in which the top 5 teams of the institute were selected for enrollment in the Smart India Hackathon 2020. In the second phase, all nominated entries were evaluated. Subsequently, four or 5 entries for each problem statement were selected for the Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2020. In the third and final phase, this competition was conducted in virtual mode from 01 to 03 August 2020 in about 41 nodal centers.
On August 04, 2020, the results of the "Smart India Hackathon 2020" were declared as the winners of the teams of "TakeHackers" and "Technohackers" of FOECS. The team of Techhackers worked on the problem statement given by the Airport Authority of India and the second team Technohacker worked on the problem statement given by the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of Bihar. The TechHackers team has mentors Mr. Ashish Bishnoi and Mr. Rupal Gupta, while student members are Prerna Jain, Pushpane Chaudhary, Naman Gupta, Arjav Jain, Mohit Jain and Srishti Jain. Technohacker's team mentors Professor Rakesh Kumar Dwivedi and Mr. Rajendra Prasad Pandey, while Student Members are Arjav Jain, Narrated Jindal, Amar Aggarwal, Nancy Jain, Kunal Yadav and Ritesh Jain. Both the winning teams also earned the winning prize money of Rs.1 lakh each.
