Smart Energy Solutions to Boost Power Sector Economy During Pandemic
Electrical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering and Computing Sciences, Teerthanker Mahaveer University organized a webinar on June 06, 2020 on the topic “Smart Energy Solutions to Boost Power Sector Economy During Pandemic”. This Webinar was Coordinated by Dr. Garima Goswami, Head, Electrical Engineering Department, FoECS, TMU and organized by entire electrical department of the college.
Prof. (Dr.) Zainul Abdin Jaffery, Department of Electrical Engineering, Jamia Milia Islamia University, New Delhi, Mr. Ashutosh Sharma, Project Head, Voltrans Energy, Ghaziabad and Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar Dwivedi, Director, Faculty of Engineering & Computing Sciences, TMU were the distinguished speakers of this webinar.
The Webinar inaugurated with the encouraging and insightful thoughts of honorable Pro Vice Chancellor of Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Prof. Raghuvir Singh who has also an expertise in electrical engineering. Hon’ble Vice chancellor shared his knowledge over present situation of the Indian Power sector and its challenges. He also focused his talk over different innovative and conventional solutions to make Power System operation more flexible and develop a strong immunity against its venerability. He stated that in near future the Electrical Engineering has to play a key role in country’s economy and its development as energy is pivot to humankind development and energy security is the need of the hour. He also shared the benefits of renewable energy generation and its storage along with its integration to the power grid.
Mr. Ashutosh Sharma has a valuable experience in the field of Solar system installation and commissioning and he was one of key speakers of the webinar also. He shared his vast experience and explained the different stages of solar system commissioning. He explained how can solar power be a game changer in India’s energy security and employment generation. He is more focused towards solar power entrepreneurship and believe that this sector has enormous opportunity to generate employment and make India self-sustainable. He also presented various schemes driven by central and state governments to boost renewable energy generation primally solar power generation.
The Webinar ended with a thank you note by Dr. Garima Goswami, Head, Electrical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering and Computing Sciences, TMU. More than 200 participants got themselves registered for the Webinar and e-certificates have been provided to all the participants on their registered mail id.

New ways to solve the problems of Power Sector
Dr. Zainul Abdin Jaffery, Professor, EED, Jamia Milia Islamia University, and the guest of honor for the webinar and one of the key speakers of the event shared his research and various other publications to motivate the audience to think over new ways to solve the problems of Power Sector. He gave his talk over energy security, energy storage, novel methods for fault detection and rapid synchronization of Power grid or can say how can we make our power sector more robust and less venerable towards fault. He explained thermal imaging technique for fault detection. He continued his talk over how can we combinedly use image processing and fuzzy logic to detect fault more rapidly and with a significant amount of accuracy. He also presented the various data related to this technique and showed us how efficiently we can achieve this objective with a good amount of safety.

Issues faced by our Power Sector in present scenario
Prof. Dwivedi shared his immense knowledge and understanding of practical issues faced by our Power Sector in present scenario and what are the challenges before the sector in present crisis situation. He explained Round the clock (RTC) renewable power purchase agreement between different transmission and distribution companies. He also put light over power bundling and microgrids for renewable energy sources to cater the growing demand of energy. He shared COP-21 vision and India’s aim to produce 175 GW of renewable energy for its domestic use and reduce its dependency over conventional fuel-based power production and contribute towards greener future.

Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar Dwivedi is presently
working in Teerthanker Mahaveer University,
Moradabad, India as Principal of College of Computing
Sciences and Information Technology. He received his
PhD degree in soft computing from the Indian Institute of
Technology (IIT), Roorkee in 2014. He is having more than 23 Years of
experience in teaching as well as in research. He is the author of more than
30 journal papers. His current research interests include Soft Computing,
Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Software Project Development.
