EV Battery Energy Storage & Charging Systems


Gene will present an Overview of Battery Pack Architecture and Provide information about each of the sub component in the battery pack.  Gene will focus most of the presentation on Charging systems from Conductive to Wireless to Robotics. He will review the different EV cord sets and discuss charging features and charging times.  If you are thinking about buying an Electric Vehicle you will want to hear about what it takes to keep your vehicle charged.

Biography:

Gene Saltzberg, Adjunct Professor at University of Detroit Mercy
Gene is currently teaching EV Battery Energy Storage Systems. 

Gene’s prior experience was as a Systems Engineer for EV and PHEV charging at GM.  In addition, he was Electrical Product Engineer for Battery Pack Electronics, Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electronics and developed Chevy Spark EV Battery System for General Motors

Prior to General Motors, Gene worked at Xerox Corporation in Rochester, NY.  He was responsible for Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) for several of the Xerox Product lines and was responsible for the Raster Output Scanner (Lasers) for high-speed printers.

Gene was Chair, Vice Chair and is Secretary and Treasurer for IEEE VTS Southeastern Michigan Chapter.  He was EMC Chapter Chair and Vice Chair for 7 years in the Rochester NY Section.  Gene is Chair of the SAE WCX21 Automotive Electronics Activity and Session Organizer for EV Chargers and Charging Electronics Architecture Session.

Gene has a MSEE and BSEE from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Rochester, New York.
