Paul Nikolich Paul Nikolich of YAS Broadband Ventures LLC

Biography:

Paul Nikolich develops new technologies, technical standards, intellectual property and ventures in data communications and broadband industries as an angel investor and board member of companies in their early stages of development.

He is an IEEE Fellow and Chairman of the IEEE 802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee overseeing technical standards development for wired (e.g., Ethernet) and wireless (e.g., Wi-Fi) networking applications since 2001.

Mr. Nikolich is a partner in YAS Broadband Ventures LLC, holds several patents and has a BS in Electrical Engineering, a BS in Biology and a M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Polytechnic University in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Herman Koch Herman Koch of Technical Consultant

Biography:

Dr.-Ing. Hermann Koch received his PhD in 1990 at Technical University Darmstadt in Germany. He was responsible in Siemens to develop, manufacture and market high volatge gas-insulated transmission lines (GIL) from 1991 to 2020. Since 2020 he is technical consultant for high voltage gas insulated technologoes.

Since 1996 he is active in IEC / CENELEC / CIGRE and 1997 in IEEE for standardization in different functions as expert member, secretary or chair.

He was IEEE Standards Association board member in 2003-2007 and chair of the IEEE PES Substations Committee in 2018-2010.

In 2010 he receive IEEE Fellow status and since 2011 he is member of the PES Board long range planning committee.

He received many international awards in IEC, IEEE, and CIGRE including the IEEE-SA International Award for extraordinary contributions to the advancement of the international goals of the IEEE-SA in 2008 and the IEEE Charles Proteus Steinmetz Award in 2016 for leadership in and contributions to the development, standardization, and global impact of gas-insulating technology for substations (GIS) and high-voltage lines (GIL).

He has published three books on GIS, GIL and International Standardization, more than 160 publications and holds more than 30 patents.
