Lunch Chat: Demystifying the AI Journey
This event is being held by the IEEE Pittsburgh Affinity Group: Women in Engineering (WIE). While this is a WIE event, this event is open to all.
This will be talk from a deep learning scientist at NVIDIA about her personal journey from studying engineering to working in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) field.
With the recent boom in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning, opportunities in this domain have become competitive and the interview process has become mystified. Students often find it hard to understand the skill-sets required for ML/ AI roles. This makes their job search process tedious and introduces a potential disconnect in expectations from the industry and the interview prep for students. In this talk, Subhashree Radhakrishnan will walk us through her journey in the field of AI and help demystify some of the technical know-hows pertaining to AI roles. She will give a technical overview of the work at NVIDIA and steps involved in productionizing AI models. She will provide students with a roadmap on how to hone their skills, to land interviews, excel in them and succeed in the role. Resources provided will include advice on networking, technical information on current ongoing projects in the industry and specific expectations from candidates during interviews. She will also provide pointers and links to resources that will help bolster their technical skills in AI. Finally, she will help answer some of the commonly raised questions regarding different roles within a Machine Learning team, responsibilities in different roles and making a career switch into AI.

Subhashree Radhakrishnan of NVIDIA
Biography:
Subhashree Radhakrishnan is a Deep Learning Engineer in Intelligent Video Analytics Team at NVIDIA. She is one of the core developers of Transfer Learning Toolkit released from NVIDIA that provides a code-free framework for training Deep learning models on the edge. She is a co-inventor for several patents in the domain of Deep learning and computer vision. Outside of NVIDIA, Subhashree is a mentor for AI4ALL - Changemakers in AI project where she mentors highschool students from diverse backgrounds to work on AI projects that have societal impact. Prior to NVIDIA, Subhashree earned her Masters from Virginia Tech specializing in Deep Learning and computer vision with a focus on Video Understanding. She likes public speaking and is part of Toastmasters. Subhashree also enjoys hiking and singing during her free time.
