Report on National-level hackathon- ‘Hackothsav’ held at
SMVITM Bantakal
National-level hackathon- ‘Hackothsav’ was inaugurated at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja
Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal on 9 July, 2021. Dr. Sudheendra
Koushik, Innovation Director, Volvo Group was the chief guest. In his inaugural
address he motivated the participants and urged them to understand problems by
identifying the underlying causes before solving them. He suggested for them to
utilise the opportunity of Hackothsav to learn from industry experts and peers.
Shri Rathnakumar, Secretary, SSVMET, presided over the function. In his presidential
address he applauded the participants and organisers. Prof. Thirumaleshwara Bhat,
Principal, SMVITM, addressed the gathering with motivational words. Dr. Vasudeva,
IEEE Student Branch Counselor welcomed the gathering and Ms. Navya proposed the
vote of thanks. Mr. Ashutosh Kumar gave in-depth information about the event. Ms.
Chaithra introduced the Chief Guest. Mr. Raunak Choudhary announced the problem
statements for the competition. Ms. Aninditha and Ms. Avanti from the
CodeTroopers club hosted the event.
The Vice Principal, Deans, HoDs, faculty and staff members, students, evaluators,
sponsors and participants were part of the event which was held in online mode and
streamed on YouTube. The Hackathon is being jointly organized by the Department
of Computer Science and Engineering, IEEE Student Branch and CodeTroopers Club.
Tetherfi Technologies, Robosoft Technologies, Prueba India Software, IEEE
Mangalore Subsection and IEEE CAS chapter sponsored the event.
67 teams with total 281 students participated in the 48-hour event. Total 10 problem
statements were given to the teams to work on. 43 evaluators from different
companies like SAP Labs, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Nvidia Graphics, Global Logic, Prueba,
Tetherfi, Robosoft, Tech Mahindra, Excelsoft, Differentech Solutions, Mindtree etc.
evaluated the project and progress in 4 phases. Mr. Karthik K from Robosoft, Mr.
Dinesh Karnik from Prueba India Software, Mr. Rahul Kumar and Mr. Shreeraj Bhat
from Tetherfi Technologies participated in Industry Interaction Program and
interacted with the participants on current trends in technologies, skill sets expected
in industry and other topics.
The two-day virtual National level Hackathon, ‘Hackothsav’ concluded on 11 July,
2021. The valedictory ceremony of Hackothsav was presided over by Parama Poojya
Shri Vishwa Vallabha Theertha Shripadaru, President, SSVMET. In his presidential 
address, Shripadaru explained how enthusiastic people can do wonders by citing a
verse “just as the burning of wood kindles fire, as digging the entrails of the earth
springs water, so is the spirit of enthusiastic individuals evergreen and nothing is
impossible for them”. He encouraged the participants to take further action on their
projects in the future. He appreciated the organizing team for making this event a
grand one.
Prof. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal, SMVITM, welcomed the gathering. Mr. Siju V
Soman, Faculty Coordinator of CodeTroopers Club, presented the Report of
‘Hackothsav’. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Ms. Kirthi Nayak. Ms. Aninditha
and Ms. Avanti were the masters of ceremony of the valedictory event. The Deans,
HoDs, faculty and staff members, students, evaluators, sponsors and participants
were part of the event which was held in online mode and streamed on YouTube.
Representatives from different sponsor companies- Mr. Karthik K from Robosoft
Technologies, Mr. Nishchith Shetty from Tetherfi, Dr. Pushparaj Shetty, Chair, IEEE
Mangalore Subsection, Mr. Dinesh Karnik from Prueba India Software Pvt. Ltd and
Dr. Nagaraj Bhat, Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering
announced the runners and winners of different categories.
The prize winners list is as follows:
