Biography:

Aardra is a biotech engineer, entrepreneur and entrepreneurship researcher. She is the founder and Managing Director of Aeka Biochemicals Pvt. Ltd., the first fully women-owned environmental biotech company in India. She is passionate about making science and entrepreneurship accessible to all those interested in these fields, especially women.

Aardra holds an MRes in Management from UCL, an MSc in management from Warwick Business School, and a Bachelors in biotechnology and biochemical engineering from the University of Kerala. She is also pursuing a PhD in entrepreneurship and gender at UCL School of Management. In her spare time, she is a growth and strategy consultant for start-ups based in London, and as a mentor for science and research students in India, the UK and the US. 

She is the Founding Curator of the Global Shapers Trivandrum Hub, a director on the board of the first charitable limited company in sports in Kerala, and one of 50 young leaders selected from around the world to form the inaugural cohort for the British Council Future Leaders Connect programme.

Aardra was invited by NITI Ayog, and the Government of India, to meet the Prime Minister of India and participate in the Champions of Change nation-building programme held in 2017. She was also one of 14 participants from India selected by the by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, to take part in the BIO International Convention 2017, held at San Diego, USA. She has been a TEDx speaker, and an invited speaker at the India Today Conclave 2016.

Awards received include: COSiDiCi (Council of State Industrial Development and Investment Corporations of India) National Award for Outstanding Entrepreneurs, 2018, the New Indian Express Devi Award, 2016, the Professional’s Conclave Woman Entrepreneur Award, 2016, and the RED Shakti Award, 2017
