Under the ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ initiated by our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi, Toycathon-2021 is conceived to challenge India’s innovative minds to conceptualize novel Toy and Games based on Bharatiya civilization, history, culture, mythology and ethos, jointly managed by Ministry of Education, Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Ministry of Textile, Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Ministry of MSME, Ministry of I&B and (AICTE). Faculty of Engineering (FoE), Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad as NODAL CENTER was selected by MIC/AICTE for hosting Toycathon 2021 Grand Finale, an event conducted by Govt. of India to promote indigenous toy industry Around 14 teams from different parts of India confirmed their participation.

FoE was selected as one of the nodal centres that facilitated the Digital and Physical event from 22-24 June 2021 & Prize Money and Winner Declaration on 26th June 2021. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this Grand Finale had teams with digital toy ideas, while a separate physical event was organized for non-digital toy concepts.

FoE was one out of the 87 Nodal Centre (NC) and one out of 8 NC in UP and one and only institute from Moradabad and Bareilly Division which hosted this prestigious event. 14 Teams from UP, UK and Puducherry participated at FoE-TMU. Teams from 24 states competed against nine themes viz. Indian Culture, History, Knowledge of India and Ethos; Learning, Education and Schooling; Social and human values; Occupations & specific fields; Environment; Divyang; Fitness and sport; Out of the box, creative and logical thinking and Rediscovering/redesigning traditional Indian toys. Stressing upon PM Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ in Toy Industry, Ministry of Education mooted the idea of multi-track nation-wide inter-ministerial Toycathon.
