Automating Network Management in 5G and Beyond Mobile Networks
he advent of network softwarization and virtualization is increasing the programmability of the networking infrastructures and thus opening opportunities to introduce automation in the process of network management. This lecture will start from an overview of how Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualization are changing and evolving today's networks. Then, 5G will be introduced as a test case where a modern communication standard decided to embrace this evolution towards unprecedented flexibility and programmability, with the concept of the 5G Service Based Architecture. Finally, different scenarios of network automation and the evolution towards zero-touch or fully automated network management will be provided.
