Scientific Publishing in China: Recent Developments for Periodicals
In China, the last two decades witnessed rapid developments in science and technology with remarkable growth in research productions. The rise of quality and quantity of such productions has been a driving force for the development of Chinese publishing industry and meanwhile has brought many challenges and opportunities to Chinese scientific publishers. In this talk, we will review the current state of periodical publications in China, use “Science China†as an example to explain the difference between international and Chinese publishing models, and discuss possibilities of cooperation in periodical production and promotion. We will conclude our talk with personal viewpoints on the prospects and trends of development for scientific periodicals.

Biography: Fei SONG received the M.Sc. degree in software technology from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She has been Executive Director of “SCIENCE CHINA Information Sciences†and its Chinese counterpart “Scientia Sinica Informationis†since 2010. She is a Member of IEEE, China Computer Federation, and the Fifth Young’s Working Committee of China Editology Society of Science Periodicals. The journal led by her has been granted as a key academic periodical by the National Natural Science Foundation of China for three times consecutively since 2008. It also received financial supports from both China Association for Science and Technology and Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2013 and was awarded the Highest International Impact Achievement Journal of China in 2012.
