Introduction to Python for Electrical Engineering
IEEE WIE Winnipeg, in collaboration with University of Manitoba's ECE Graduate Student Association, present an online Python workshop for beginners. The workshop will cover:
- Introduction to Python, Jupyter IDE and Hello World
- Variables, basic math and data structures
- Conditionals and loops
- Functions and classes
The two-part workshop will take place from 5-7pm CST on Wednesday, September 22nd and Thursday, September 23rd, 2021.

Jhair S. Acosta
Biography:
Jhair S. Acosta recieved the double B.Sc. degrees in electronic engineering and electrical engineering from the National University of Columbia (UNAL), Bogota, Columbia in 2012 and 2013. In 2016, he received the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 2021, he received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from UNICAMP. Currently, he is a post-doctoral researcher at UNICAMP, studying the secondary arc in optimized multi-circuit multi-voltage transmission lines. During his Ph.D., Jhair did research in power systems, using optimization techniques, automation, AI and parallel computing. In 2019, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Manitoba. He has taught Python for various research groups and companies.
