Making New Jersey Strong

Topic: It’s an exciting time for the state’s largest utility Public Service Electric and Gas.  Partnering with the NJ Board of Public Utilities, PSE&G is pursuing its Utility of the Future vision.   Initiatives to achieve that vision includes four Clean Energy Future programs -- Energy Efficiency, Energy Storage, Energy Cloud and Electric Vehicles; as well as Gas System Modernization Program, Energy Strong II and NJ’s Carbon Free Tomorrow.

 

Through these initiatives the utility is helping to achieve the state’s Energy Master Plan goal’s including 100% clean energy by 2050 and development of 7500MW of offshore wind by 2035. 

 

PSE&G is leading the transition to the Clean Energy Future and empowering customers by deploying cutting-edge technologies. PSE&G’s strategy includes updating its transmission and distribution systems to meet 21st-century customer needs with modern technologies. It is modernizing transmission and distribution networks to support emerging energy-use patterns as distributed energy resources, renewables, and electric vehicles become more prevalent.

 

The utility is enhancing reliability with data and deploying new technologies to automate grid operations and business processes.

Biography:

Speaker: Ray Alvarez, PE PMP

With more than 30 years of Corporate and Professional Experience in Critical Environment and Utilities, Raymond Alvarez, PE, PMP, is the senior director of PSE&G’s Electric Asset Management. His responsibilities include transmission and substation engineering, NERC compliance, system reliability, the utility of the future, project integration, and project engineering. Prior to joining PSE&G in 2009, he served as vice president of Critical Systems, building and managing critical infrastructure facilities for banking and data center clients. He started his career at Con Edison, where he served in Generation, Engineering, Electric System Operations, Construction, Customer Operations and Project Management. He holds a BSEE from Rutgers University and a master’s degree in Power Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology.
