Researching your way into AI(Episode-2)
IEEE CS MSIT in collaboration with Computer Vision Talks organized the second episode of “Researching your way into AI” on 14 August 2021 at 7:00 PM.
For the second episode of the series “Researching your way into AI,” Mr. Shravan was the main speaker. He started the session by sharing his experience about how he got into programming and about his keen interest in research and electronics. He told the audience about the significance of participating in events and about the upcoming new opportunities in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
He explained the importance of maths in AI and mentioned some important topics:
- Linear Algebra
- Probability
- Calculus
He also discussed his internship experiences at IISC and some important points students should keep in mind while preparing for research-based internships. He mentioned that projects and past experiences are very helpful in getting LOR from the professors. As he is currently working at Microsoft as a software developer, he also shared his coding journey and the importance of DSA in the industry. He asked students to focus on competitive programming to improve their coding skills. Mr. Shravan touched both research and coding together and explained the importance of both of them to the audience. Also, he emphasized on being diversified and exploring all fields in college life as this is the most crucial phase of one’s life.

Researching your way into AI
Shravan Nayak is a graduate of IIT(BHU) Varanasi. During his college days, he worked at IISC as a summer research fellow through IAS SRFP and at the University of Hamburg as a DAAD WISE intern. He has worked in diverse areas including RL, NLP, and CV. Currently, he works at Microsoft as a software developer.
