IEEE Day 2021

Annual IEEE Day Celebration. With a theme of “Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow”, IEEE Day celebrate the first time in history when engineers worldwide gathered in 1884 to share their technical ideas.

While the world benefits from what’s new, IEEE focuses on what’s next. Activities worldwide demonstrate the multiple ways thousands of IEEE members in local communities in one hundred and sixty countries join together to collaborate on ideas that leverage technology into a better tomorrow.

Topic:

Sorting algorithms for large data sets

As an engineer, Shahriar Shirvani Moghaddam has more than 10 years of engineering experience in the basic and detailed design of wired and wireless communication systems and point-to-point radio links in off-shore and on-shore oil and gas projects in the time interval 1995-2006. Since 2003, he has been with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Shahid Rajaee Teacher Training University (SRTTU), Tehran, Iran. As a faculty member, he has been the Lecturer of 25 undergraduate and graduate courses and advised/supervised more than 100 Ph.D., M.Sc., and B.Sc. students in her/his theses/dissertations. Also, he has done 20 research projects for industry and university, 5 workshops, and 15 academic lectures as a keynote or invited speaker. He has been the head of the Electronics department, the head of the Communications department, and the dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of SRTTU, in the time intervals 2004-2006, 2012-2015, and 2013-2015, respectively. From 2013 to 2019, he has been the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering Innovations (JECEI). Moreover, he has been the reviewer of the well-known journals in Electrical and Communications Engineering, scientific co-chair of two conferences in Electrical Engineering, and moderator of some sessions of international/local conferences.
Currently, he is an associate professor at the Digital Communications Signal Processing (DCSP) research laboratory of SRTTU and a senior member of the IEEE. In addition to having numerous papers in prestigious scientific journals, he has presented dozens of papers at conferences and symposiums. Also, he is the author of two books, one on Digital Communications and another one on Electrical Engineering, and the editor of the book entitled “Cognitive Radio in 4G/5G wireless Communication Systems.” His research interests include ultra-dense networks (UDNs), heterogeneous networks (HetNets), cognitive radio (CR), device-to-device (D2D) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications, data sorting, clustering, and digital array processing.
