Topic:  Batteries and Microgrid technologies powering Australian networks, businesses, and communities

PowerTec has realised the first Victorian community battery, deployed the technology for ultra-fast charging of E-Vehicles from grid-parallel batteries and designed & delivered Australia’s first pole-mounted batteries in close cooperation with networks, communities and businesses. The webinar will briefly lead through the development journey of the business and products and the underlying market drivers. What are the requirements that drive a coherent Microgrid solution, and why are Microgrids best served with end-to-end solutions from the field hardware to the energy market participation platform? References include the Mooroolbark/VIC community mini-grid (with AusNet), the Goulburn/NSW service station with ultra-fast EV chargers on a week feeder (with Chargefox), the Bayside/VIC pole-mounted network batteries (with United Energy) and the Beerenberg Farm/SA factory microgrid. They represent a multitude of use cases and functional combinations. In each case, a combination of all or any of several functions in the areas of backup power, distribution network support and energy markets participation come to fruition. A distributed microgrid control system (PaDECS®) implements the complex functionality. Finally, the aggregation of distributed power assets to support the network transformation and simultaneously serve the dynamic energy and ancillary services markets, such as FCAS, will be discussed.
