One Day Workshop on SCAPS and SETFOS

SETFOS tool for Simulation software for optical and electrical modeling of semiconducting devices. Designing LEDs & solar cells based on organic semiconductors, perovskite, and quantum dots. Four different modules to simulate light emission, absorption, scattering, and charge transport. It also consists of multithreading ensuring high-speed computation and fitting and optimization algorithms are included. This tool also provides the facility for Integration gives access to combined characterization/simulation in DC, AC, and transient regimes. He has also emphasized the graphical user interface of this tool Intuitive access to device structure, material parameters, working files, simulation output, optimization toolbox to maximize the device efficiency, sweep function to analyses the influence of the material parameters on the device efficiency, easy access to a library of simulation examples and material property databases and key graphs and reports are automatically generated.  It can also run multiple simulations in parallel.

Dr. B. S. Sengar Dr. B. S. Sengar of NIT Srinagar

Topic:

One Day Workshop on "Modelling and Simulation of Thin-film based Solar Cells with SCAPS and SETFOS"

He has started his talk with the introduction of solar cells and various types of solar cells.  During the introduction of solar energy he has it stated that a solar cell is an electronic device that directly converts sunlight into electricity it has the largest potential among renewable energy sources, and it can be transformed into usable electricity by photovoltaic (PV) conversion in solar cells. PV solar power is starting to give an appreciable contribution to the energy mix in many countries; for example, solar power contributes about 4% of the average grid electricity in the European Union and more than 7% in countries like Germany and Italy. The installed (cumulated) PV power has increased at a high rate (~30–40% per year) in the last 15 years and is growing rapidly worldwide, thanks to increased efficiency and to reduced costs of commercial PV modules

Biography:

Dr. Brajendra Sengar is working as an Assistant Professor in Electronics & Communication Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Srinagar since March 2021. Prior to this, He was working at the Centre for Advanced Studies Lucknow in Energy Science & Technology Department. He completed his Ph.D. in 2019 from the Indian Institute of Technology Indore.
