Abstract of the above Lecture:

***************************

The Phasor Measurement Units (PMU) are increasing being employed globally to facilitate enhanced Monitoring and Control of Modern Power Systems. This involves continuous fast sampling (at rates of 30 to 60 samples per second) of Voltage, Current, Frequency and Rate of Change of Frequency signals at Multiple PMU's located at various buses in a Wide Area Interconnected Power System and utilize the Global Position System for arriving at Time-Stamped_Synchronized time data of all these actual measurements captured at  all the PMU locations to a high level of accuracy. These PMU data have become a vital addition to the measurements available from the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
(SCADA) Systems in the existing Energy Management Systems in all Load Dispatch Centres since a number of decades in India and abroad for enhanced Monitoring and Operation of Modern Power Systems. This webinar is an attempt to introduce the basics and some applications of
this Synchrophasor Measurements Technology, being implemented in many countries including India, US, Europe, China for Enhanced Power System Monitoring and Control.
