Please plan to attend.  The speaker will be Arben Bufi, Ph.D., Senior IEEE Member at Meiden America Switchgear, Inc., SC and his presentation will cover:

  • Transition to New Power Systems with Clean and No-carbon Energy using 3 directions:
    • Decarbonization, Digitalization, and Grid Resiliency.                 
  • Applications of vacuum technology and non-SF6 insulating medium to resolve decarbonization.
  • Present trends on developments of Vacuum Circuit Breaker (VCB) as SF6 alternative.
  • Advanced technology of Vacuum Interrupter (VI) electrodes.
  • 15 years of HV - VCB experience in North America.
  • Expansion of VCB voltage class networks.
  • Future trends on VCB Development: The Road Map.

Biography:

Mr. Arben Bufi has more than 40 years of experience in electrical engineering, especially in Power Systems. He received the BSEE and MSEE degrees from Tirana State and Polytechnic University, Albania, and the Doctor Degree from High Scientific State Committee, Republic of Albania in 1996. Mr. Bufi joined Hitachi T&D Solutions in Suwanee, GA in 2007, and he has been engaged in the Design & Development of HV circuit breakers (72.5 kV – 800 kV). In 2020 he joined Meiden America Switchgear in Gray Court, SC to pursue his preference for development and design of HV Vacuum Circuit Breakers. Mr. Bufi is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
