WORK ON SELF-LEADERSHIP - Talk in Regional Telugu "
Reach the Unreached is an R10 EA Reaching Locals initiative where the sessions will be conducted in Regional languages. IEEE SVCE Student Branch started this with a very essential and interactive talk on
“Work on Self-Leadership” by Mrs.C.S.RamaLakshmi mam, Retd.IFS officer.
She started the session with a quote stating “Never stop learning because life never stops teaching.” She said that Personality development includes :
Ø Self-Awareness
Ø Self-knowledge
Ø Identity
Ø Talents
Ø Potential
Ø Human capital
Ø Quality of Life
Ø Dreams
Ø Aspirations
She said that Decision making and Motivation are the important qualities of a leader and next she started teaching us the strategies of Self –leadership by exemplifying each trait to a famous personality.
- Dedication:
Mahatma Gandhi became a great leader by dedicating himself to Civil –disobedience movement, Elimination of Apartheid in South Africa etc.
- Influence:
Martin Luther King Jr who is a Civil Rights Activist who struggled against color racism. He has influenced many people to fight against the discrimination.
3.Empathy:
Tim Cook who is the CEO of Apple Inc is a perfect example for Empathy. He always recommends measurement of impact on humanity as
“The lives touched and people served, not in likes and popularity.”
Sonu Sood who has helped many migrants in reaching their native places and is donating for the supply of Oxygen cylinders is also an example of empathy.
4.Social Skills:
Anna Hazare who has initiated the Anti-Corruption movement, Watershed movement, ban on nasha(Nashabandi),ban on untouchability is a perfect person to exemplify for social skills.
- Self –Regulation & Emotional Intelligence:
M.S.Dhoni is a perfect example for these traits. He is equally calm in success and failure. He is accountable, accepts the mistakes publicly as a person and as a team.
6.Seek feedback &act:
We must always have a clear view of what is happening in our community or team, and we must be ready to take immediate actions and Dr. N. Chandra Babu Naidu is an example for it. We must always have an open mind and try new ways of doing tasks.
- Follow your Values:
Warren Buffet has pledged to give away nearly 99% of his accumulated wealth to philanthropic causes after his death.
Madam motivated us by saying “Take every adversity as an opportunity.”
She also advised the upcoming leaders to
Ø Focus on family values
Ø Be able to thrive amidst high competition
Ø Build Adaptability & Agility
Mam further took a questionnaire session where the students asked several questions like:
Ø What was your own inspiration to enter into the Civil Services mam?
Ø What are the advice /suggestions you would like to give to the present civil service aspirants?
She answered every one and further, a group photo was taken with mam.
The session ended by proposing a vote of thanks.
