Biography:

Mohamed holds PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Toronto, Canada, and M.Sc. & B.Sc. degrees in Electrical Power Engineering from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. He is a Senior Member with the IEEE, and registered Professional Engineer in the Provinces of Alberta & Ontario, Canada. He is an Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical and Power Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University.

Mohamed has more than 19  years of engineering, consulting and technical/project management experience in the electricity utility industry. At a functional level, Mohamed’s expertise covers a wide spectrum of activities – all related to the utility industry -  including Transmission and Distribution planning and operation, Techno-economical feasibility studies for electricity infrastructure projects, Power Sector Reform and Restructuring; Cross-boarder Interconnections, Utility Financing, Generation and Transmission Masterplans, Renewable Energy Power Purchase Agreements; HVDC and FACTS, and Value Engineering.

He is currently seconded to the World Bank Group as a Senior Energy specialist, leading the energy dialogue with the Government of Jordan. Prior to his current role, he served as the Technical Advisor to the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, providing direct technical and commercial support to H.E. The Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy and all Senior Executives of the Egyptian Utility Companies. Prior to that, Mohamed held lead and management roles in several Canadian utilities, focusing on transmission system planning and operation and commercial management for renewable generation auctions.
