Abstract
Business Intelligence is today a must have initiative for every organization for being competitive. A decade ago, BI was a large organizations' (Fortune 1000) delightful IT initiative. The value that it offered over the years in arriving at what is the right decision, who has to take it, who has to implement it and when; made it to be the most dependable means of staying ahead of competition and / or in arriving at the most optimal costs of running a shop.
The Advances BI made from the time when decision makers had to wait for a day or even week(s) to even get a glimpse of "data" let alone if it makes a meaningful sense of information to arrive at a final decision to today where the "information – not just data" is available in the users' smart phones LIVE waiting to be used is phenomenal. There has been significant progress in different segments of BI like in technologies – Data warehousing architectures, User activism – flexibility in usage like interactive visualization techniques, tools – that are plug and play. The futuristic view of the tools & techniques in providing forecasting and mining algorithms for dependable predictive analysis clubbed with the advances made makes a strong case for every organization now to consider BI as an essential means of information in the organization for its survival.
