Robotics is a lab-based course that uses a hands-on approach to introduce the basic concepts of robotics, focusing on the construction and programming of autonomous mobile robots. Course information will be tied to lab experiments; students will work in groups to build and test increasingly more complex mobile robots, culminating in a robot contest. We will be using VEX Robotic Design System as our platform. Students will be divided into groups and complete a variety of robot construction and programming activities within the confines of these groups.

Advancing science, technology, engineering and mathmematics ( STEM ) the Computer Chapter of the Syracuse IEEE Section is working with students in grades 6, 7 & 8 at Expeditionary Learning Middle School (ELMS) Syracuse City School District in Syracuse, NY.

STEM classes will be centered on the VEX IQ Challenge presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation. This class is designed to inspire students to develop a lifelong passion for learning and an interest in pursuing educational and career opportunities in STEM fields.

Mission of The Robotics Education & Competition Foundation’s is to increase student interest and involvement in STEM by engaging students in hands-on, affordable, and sustainable robotics engineering programs.
