National Pollution Control Day


Department of Civil Engineering organised a one day technical webinar occasion of National Pollution Control Day for the awareness of the students of B.Tech Civil IV, III & II year successfully via google meet platform on 02/12/2021.
Coordinator Mr. Ankit Kumar said that India is the only country in the world where earth is called mother. Therefore, it is our responsibility to save the earth from pollution.
This webinar started with welcome speech of Professor R.K. Dwivedi (Director, FoECS, TMU, Moradabad) in which he welcomed the key note speaker of webinar Prof. Devendra Mohan,Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT BHU.

He motivated the students by his speech. He told that National Pollution Control Day is observed every year in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the Bhopal Gas tragedy when the deadly gas methylisocyanate leaked out of the Union Carbide plant on the intervening night of 2nd December in 1984. He said that all of us should fulfill our duty towards the environment properly.So that the coming generation can also take advantage of the nature.

Professor R.K. Dwivedi, Director FoECS said that we need to combine it. The corona pandemic taught us the importance of oxygen. Therefore, we should fulfill our responsibility towards the environment by planting trees. He said that Department of Civil Engineering has taken the responsibility of celebrating this Environment World Day as the environmental subject is an integral part of Civil Engineering. We all should fulfill our duty towards the environment properly. So that the coming generation can also take advantage of the nature.

Vote of thanks was given by Prof. R.K. Jain HoD, Department of Civil Engineering, TMU, Moradabad. Referring to the Jain doctrine, he said that a basic sentence is AnarthadandVrat which  means we should not misuse anything given by nature like water, electricity, air, food etc.

The Webinar provided the opportunity to the students to know about the environmental issues and their responsibilities to solve these issues.

The keynote speaker, Prof. (Dr.)Devendra Mohan suggested that the engineering students should do more and more work in the field of alternative energy, waste management, sustainable development, sewage treatment, prevention of toxic gases and organic foods so that the environment can be saved from being polluted. Prof. Devendra Mohan talked about the importance of reuse, re-purpose and re-cycle. He also discussed, in detail, air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, light pollution, food pollution etc.
