IEEE Pikes Peak Section Electrion of Officers and Business Meeting
Once a year the Pikes Peak Section meets at an Annual Business Meeting to elect Section officers, present the "state" of the Section, solicit member comments and to simply share a meal and get to know one another. This year's annual meeting will be held on December 4 at Old Chicago.
ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING SPECIFICS:
DATE, TIME and LOCATION: Thursday, December 4, starting at 6:00 PM and ending at approximately 7:30 PM at Old Chicago located at 4110 N. Academy Blvd. in Colorado Springs. This location is at the northwest corner of the intersection of N. Academy Blvd. and Austin Bluffs Parkway.
The meeting will be held in a private dining area. Member spouses and significant others are invited and encouraged to attend. There is no admission charge. Members’ meals will be paid for by the Section. In addition, a cash bar will be available. Old Chicago is well known for its casual Italian entrees and over 110 beer selections. Registration, by using the following link, is required. You must register by Tuesday, December 2 at midnight.

OFFICER ELECTIONS: The IEEE requires the Sections of hold annual elections for the section positions of: 1) Chair, 2) Vice-Chair, 3) Treasurer, and 4) Secretary. The following four individuals have been nominated by the Section Executive Committee:
1. Chair: Mr. Dave Cotton
2. Vice-Chair: Maj Constance Hendrix (2014 Secretary)
3. Secretary: Mr. Michael Garland
4. Treasurer: Dr. Debora Elam (2014 Secretary)

MEMBERSHIP NOMINATION OF, AND VOTING FOR, CANDIDATES
1. NOMINATION: Members can nominate other candidates(s) for the above position(s) by nominating at the Annual Meeting For nominees to be considered the candidate(s) must be a current member, of the Section, not an undergraduate, and must have accepted the nomination. Although not required, the nominee is strongly encouraged to attend the Annual Meeting.
2. ELECTION OF CANDIDATES.
Election of candidates will take place at the Annual Business Meeting, December 4th by secret paper ballot.
Technical Society Chairs will also be available to answer questions on their chapter interests. And this is a good opportunity to tell us what we’re doing good (and not so good) as a Section.

BIOS:
1. Maj Constance Hendrix is currently a commanding officer in US Space Command at Peterson AFB here in Colorado Springs. Previous assignments included Deputy Director for the Systems Engineering Program and an assistant professor in the Department of Aeronautics at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA). In this position she was responsible for the operations of the Academy’s second largest engineering major which includes over 400 cadets, the management of 6 courses, and the cooperation of seven participating departments. She also has taught differential equations with circuit applications, principles of Air Force electronics, digital signal processing and intro to systems engineering to cadets majoring in electrical, computer, or systems engineering. Maj Hendrix’s academic accomplishments include a B.S.E.E (University of Florida), an M.S.E.E. in Electrical Engineering (Air Force Institute of Technology), and a Masters in Business Administration (University of West Florida). She is a licensed P.E. in the state of Colorado. Maj Hendrix has also published two papers on the use of a model-based Linear Quadratic Gaussian controller to mix both inertial and camera measurement inputs to provide navigation solution updates that allow a micro-sized helicopter to maintain hover.
2. Dr. Debora Elam is the Team Leader for the Software Engineering Process at New York Air Brake, a Knorr-Bremse company. She is a senior software engineer with experience in PC-based and embedded software development. She is also an adjunct professor for Colorado Technical University Online in the Information Technology and Computer Science undergraduate and graduate programs, and a consultant for MediaTechnics Corporation, which specialized in innovative technology for publishing and education. She holds graduate degrees in international relations from Troy State University and in computer science from Colorado Technical University; she completed her doctorate in 2011 with a dissertation on the impact of process management on innovation in software development. She has been an IEEE member for many years and actively supported various local Pikes Peak Section events.
3. Dave Cottonis an electrical engineer and holds professional engineering licenses in 50 states, the District of Columbia, and three Canadian provinces. He is a Senior Member of IEEE. With IEEE, Dave is a member of the International Committee for Electromagnetic Safety and the Communications Society. Dave received his BSE, Electrical Engineering, University of Connecticut, and two masters degrees, an MS, Telecommunications and an ME, Engineering Management, both at University of Colorado. He is registered as Chartered Engineer through the Engineering Council (UK) and the IET.
Upon graduation from Connecticut, Dave earned a commission in the US Air Force as a second lieutenant and was stationed at Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom AFB, MA. In 1989, he was transferred to the 5th Combat Communications Group, Robins AFB, GA. During this assignment, he served in DESERT SHIELD/STORM. He left the Air Force in 1992, and went to the Atlanta area to work in the wireless sector. He first worked as an RF Engineer for BellSouth Mobility and PriCellular. He has worked in the wireless industry for 20 years and in military telecommunications for 9 years. He is the Director, RF Compliance for Sitesafe, Arlington, VA and works from his home in Woodland Park, CO.
