In this "Introduction to Docker" presentation, TJ will go over the history of software delivery and deployment practices which led to the creation and adoption of Docker. He will then discuss what Docker is and outline a few practical use-cases for the technology. The talk will conclude with a brief conversation on where Docker is going and some resources for further learning Docker.

Biography:

TJ Maynes

Senior Software Engineer - P4 at VMWare Tanzu Labs
Certified Kubernetes Application Developer

TJ graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of South Florida in 2015. Upon graduating, he went to a position as a Software Engineer with Rejuvenan Global Health and then Software Engineer II with NBCUniversal Media. TJ later moved onto his current position as a senior software engineer with Pivotal, which was later acquired by VMWare. His responsibilities relate to building and managing web applications, iOS and Android as well as consulting in the design, development and delivery of software solutions using test-driven development, pair programming and lean product development. TJ is extremely passionate about software development, but he also enjoys coffee, photography and time with his dog.
