How to Self-Publish with Less Pain and More Profit
Have you ever wanted to publish a book? Maybe science fiction, or a technical reference? Kenneth Wyatt will provide an entertaining walk through his recent success in publishing using Amazon’s electronic tools. He will contrast this with experience of working with “traditional” publishers. Perhaps that set of short stories you always wanted to publish is now within reach!
Using Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) tools, Ken will describe how he self-published three technical soft cover books in 12 months. The “EMC Troubleshooting Trilogy” has been popular in helping electronics designers overcome electromagnetic compatibility requirements worldwide.
He'll briefly describe how he coauthored his first book and two pocket guides through a conventional book publisher, The IEC (UK’s IEEE equivalent) and then compare the process with that of Amazon.
Assuming you have a manuscript, publishing through KDP is a simple step-by-step process, fully documented with links to supporting documents and training videos. Key elements are learning the proper formatting for a non-fiction book and assembling the content using publishing software, such as Adobe InDesign or Affinity Publisher.
Best of all, you get to retain all rights, get to set the price and reap most of the profits, while Amazon provides the printing on demand and sales process through their worldwide sales network.
