Talk 1: Security Risks in the Software/Industry Supply Chain by Jessy Ayala

3D printers are a critical component in the industry supply chain, so it is important to secure 3D printer software and firmware. However, there are many open-source repositories that are related to 3D printing, meaning that anyone can contribute to a given project; in fact, even some proprietary software was forked from open-source repositories. In this session, we'll talk briefly about security risks of open-source development in the context of 3D printing.

JESSY AYALA

Jessy Ayala is currently an Associate Cybersecurity Engineer at Insulet Corporation, where he strives to ensure the safety of Omnipod products, and researcher at New York University's mLab, where he explores security and privacy concerns of consumer-facing technologies. He is also the Vice Chair of the IEEE Cybersecurity Special Interest Group in San Diego.

Talk 2: Identifying Security Concerns in Intellectual Property (IP) by Kathy Hayashi

The Accellera SA-EDI standard provides a consistent way to manage and verify security assurance for IP integration. This supports a much-awaited security assurance pass into the chip design workflow, helping to identify any potential security concerns or weaknesses associated with hardware IP throughout the whole design. In this session we'll talk about IP Security Assurance and how standards are created.

KATHY HAYASHI

Kathy Herring Hayashi has a long history in the semiconductor industry, developing, deploying and analyzing advanced software tools used to create computer and mobile phone chips. Kathy currently works at Qualcomm in San Diego. In 2018, she was the recipient of the Athena Pinnacle Award Winner for Individual in Technology and in 2017, the San Diego County Engineering Council Dr. Thomas Avolt Kanneman Award for Outstanding Service. She is currently the IEEE Director/Delegate-Elect for Region 6 (Western US) and the IEEE Board of Directors
