A webinar on "INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS" was conducted for the faculties and students of Roorkee Institute of Technology, Roorkee on February 5, 2022, from 2-4 pm.
Dr. Aruna Bhat being the coordinator of IPR Cell, RIT Roorkee welcomed all the participants. Mr. Vivek Dahiya (Founder and Director, Boudhik Ventures Pvt. Ltd.) was the eminent speaker for the event. After going through the profile of Mr. Vivek Dahiya, the program started with a basic understanding of Intellectual Property Rights and their common types. He also explained how this IPR can help Startups and build innovations in educational institutions. Mr. Dahiya explained the ecosystem for creating an environment to help students to come up with their novel ideas. He also introduced the importance of Patents and how the patents can be used to start a business and get a job. The webinar continued with the discussion on Patentability Threshold, Risk Mitigation, Competitor Intelligence, and Creating R & D Funnel. Also, discussion on Validation and other aspects of IPR asked by students were answered by Mr. Dahiya. The next speaker who threw light on Copyrights was Mr. Himanshu Goel (Scientist B) from UCOST. He explained all the aspects of copyrights including Idea Dichotomy, Thumb Rule of Copyrights, and how one can ask for copyright on books, computer software, cinematography, films, and music. Mr. Himanshu Goel motivated the students to come up with their ideas/ proposals which can help them to generate their own business. Dr. Aruna Bhat presented a vote of thanks and thanked everyone who attended this webinar. The event came to an end at 4 pm.
