About the speakers
Prof. M. M. Sufyan Beg obtained his B.Tech. (Electronics) degree from the Aligarh Muslim University, India in 1992 with First Rank. He obtained his M.Tech. (Microelectronics) degree from IIT Kanpur, India in 1994. Thereafter, he joined the Department of Electronics Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University, India as a member of the faculty. He has been a Lecturer, a Senior Lecturer, and then a Reader in the Department of Computer Engineering at the same University. He also visited the University of California at Berkeley as a BT Fellow from November 2005 to October
- Currently, he is a Professor and Chairman at the Department of Computer Engineering at the Aligarh Muslim University. He is also serving as the Principal of Z. H. College of Engineering and Technology since August 2015.
Prof. Pervez Mustajab joined Women’s Polytechnic AMU, Aligarh as a lecturer in the year 1984 and was subsequently promoted to the position of Reader. He was selected as Reader in the Department of Electronics Engineering in 1989 and Professor in the year
- Prior to this he also worked at the University of Sulaymaniyah and University of Salahaddin, Iraq for about 3 years. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electronics & Computer Engineering in the year 2002 from IIT Roorkee under the QIP program. His area of interest is in Digital systems, Microprocessor-based systems, and Intelligent Instrumentation, He has held various senior administrative positions in the University such as Training and Placement officer, ZHCET, OSD Development, Controller of Examinations & Admissions. Presently he is heading the faculty of Engineering & Technology as the Dean.
Prof. Mukhtar Ahmad Obtained his B.Sc Engineering, M.Sc Engineering, and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from AMU, Aligarh. Worked as a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering AMU Aligarh since 1998. Also worked as an associate professor at Multimedia University Malaysia in 2001 - 2002, and University Putra Malaysia 1997-1999. He is currently a former chairman of the Department of Electrical engineering and founding counselor of the IEEE student branch.
Dr. Salman Hameed received the B.Sc.Engg. (Electrical) degree and M.Sc.Engg. (Power System and Drives) degree in 1988 and 1991 from the Department of Electrical Engineering, AMU Aligarh. He did his Ph.D. in the area of Power Systems (FACTS Controllers) from IIT Roorkee in 2008. He has published several research papers in National and International Journals like the International Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems (Elsevier), Electric Power Systems Research (Elsevier), etc., and in various International and National conference proceedings in India and abroad. Presently, he is the Chairperson of the Electrical Engineering Department, A.M.U., Aligarh. Prof. Ekram Khan obtained his Ph. D degree in Electronics Engineering in the area of Image/Video Coding and Transmission from the University of Essex, Colchester (U.K.) in 2003. He has joined the Department of Electronics Engineering, AMU Aligarh as a Lecturer in 1993, promoted to reader in 2003. He has delivered many invited talks at national and international levels. He is a senior member of IEEE (USA), a life member of IETE (India), and a life member of SSI (India). Presently he is working as a Chairman of Department of Electronics Engineering.
Dr. Mohd. Rihan is currently an Associate Professor, Electrical Engineering Department, AMU, Visiting Scientist, National Institute of Solar Energy, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Government of India Convener, Green University Project Committee, AMU Member Incharge, Electricity Department, AMU Coordinator, Solar PV Training Centre Affiliated with Skills Council Green Jobs, Government of India Experience: 18 Years Academic Honours: Gold Medal for Securing First Position in the B. Tech. (Electrical), 2001 batch. University Merit Scholarship of AMU, 1997-1998, 1999-2001. Outstanding Merit Award by the Vice-Chancellor, AMU, 2009
IEEE Student Branch, ZHCET, AMU organized its second orientation event of IEEE Connect, held virtually and was attended by over 100 people, including guests, students, and faculty, and also a live session on youtube. The session was moderated by Javeria Sajid, Joint Secretary. As per university traditions, the session started with reciting a few verses from the Holy Quran. The welcome address of the session was presented by Ms. Mahena Mahmood, General Secretary of IEEE and Chairperson of WIE affinity group, wholeheartedly welcomed all the guests and highlighted that their support is vital in the functioning of the student branch and Arsalan Hameed, Chairperson IEEE, and Abbas Syed Nooruddin, Vice-chairperson IEEE briefed the attendees about the IEEE role in their career and highlighted its importance. The chief guest of the session, Founding Counsellor of IEEE AMU, Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad, briefly described the importance of IEEE global memberships and how the branch has exponentially improved its membership ratio and performance. He also encouraged students to reach out to Masters and Ph.D. students for research proposals and membership ideas. Pervez Mustajab, Dean of ZHCET, welcomed all the newcomers, talked about the importance of co-curricular activities, and told the audience how the IEEE helps the students in their careers. He also discussed the importance of writing research papers and especially publishing them in journals and conferences. Principal ZHCET, Prof. M.M. Sufyan Beg, addressed the audience by stating the importance of IEEE and its different chapters. He also pointed out that IEEE is not only limited to Electrical & Electronics and how it encourages other branches too. Prof. Salman Hameed, Chairman of the Electrical Engineering Department, ZHCET, AMU, presided over and gave a brief history of IEEE and congratulated all the members for their hard work and success of the branch. Further, he also stated the benefits and importance of IEEE. Prof. Mohd. Rihan, Vice-Chair, Executive Committee, IEEE U.P. Section, then addressed the audience about the Women in Engineering affinity group and SIGHT Section, about how the IEEE Student Branch, ZHCET, has won various awards and has been tremendously active even in the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Prof. Ekram Khan, Chairman Electronics Department, ZHCET, AMU joined the event explained the importance of electronics in IEEE and its various benefits. Then Asmer Hamid Ali, IEEE Student Member, gave a brief presentation which included the working team of office bearers, faculty teachers, achievements, past activities, future activities, different present and upcoming societies, etc. The Vote of Thanks for the session was delivered by Mr. Zain, IEEE Student Member presented a vote of thanks.
The session was concluded with the tradition; AMU Tarana followed by the National Anthem
