Reliability of electricity networks relays on connected apparatus. Transient events such as switching operations and faults result in complex phenomena involving the interaction of connected devices, often leading to overcurrent and overvoltage. In the seminar, an overview of typical transient events will be provided. An impact on the selected equipment and examples of mitigation strategies based on practical examples will be given.

Wojciech Piasecki was born in Poland on May 15,1966. He received the M.Sc. degree in electronics from the University of Science and Technology, in Cracow Poland, and the Ph.D. degree in Biophysics from the Jagiellonian University, Cracow. Since 1998 he has been working at the ABB Corporate Research Center in Cracow, focusing on electromagnetic transient phenomena in electrical networks and on  high-frequency and nonlinear modeling of electrical equipment. Currently holds a position of a Senior Principal Scientist in the area of electromagnetic design of electrical apparatus. Wojciech is an IEEE Senior Member.

PDH credits will be provided upon payment of USD 5 or above along with the registration.
