Agenda

Duration: 2 Days

Course Overview:
The 2 Days Hands-on training will cover the Fibre Technology Overview,  Installation,
Splicing, Testing using OTDR, Power Metre, and Light Source

Learning Outcomes:
After successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:
i. Understand the fundamentals of fibre technology
ii. Understand the basics of optical fibre cable installation
iii. Effectively prepare the cables for splicing
iv. Effectively splice fibers with minimal losses
v. Properly arrange the spliced fibers in the splice trays
vi. Properly carry out joint closure
vii. Use an OTDR to measure the splice losses
viii. Properly carry out testing using a light source and optical power meter; and Optical Time Domain Reflectometer(OTDR).

1. Safety precautions
2. Installing fibre optic cable
3. Choice of closure kit for the size of cables to be spliced
4. Cable preparation
5. Fiber splicing including splicing to pigtails
6. Fiber management
7. Joint closure
8. Joint support
9. Link testing using a light source and optical power meter

10. OTDR testing
